Welcome to my last Action Project of my STEAM class called Disease. In Unit 2 of Disease, we explored the mind. Your brain/mind, is arguably the most important part on your body. We learned the difference between the left and right side of your brain, as well as nerves and neurotransmitters. We also read about certain mental disorders from the DSM-V (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), which contains guidelines to help doctors and mental specialists diagnose patients properly.

People who strive to be healthy automatically think that it means you need to take care of your psychical self, when in fact your psychical health is only one component to your overall wellness. You deserve to feel your best and that includes taking care of yourself mentally. There is so much stigma around having a mental illness, that people are sometimes deterred from getting help. 2/3rds of the population that have a mental disorder, don't end up getting treatment after being diagnosed.

1 in 4 people suffer from a mental disorder, and 1 in 13 people live with an anxiety disorder. I chose to do an Anxiety Disorder because there are so many of them and it's one of the most common disorders to have. Generalized anxiety, OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), panic disorder, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and social phobia are all common anxiety disorders. I did my project on generalized anxiety. Below I have a slideshow, and screen-video of my project.
